4 Steps to Better Boundaries (and less stress)

Your chronic tension, anxiety, stress, and pain may be evidence of an inability to place proper boundaries around your time, energy, body, mind, or morals.

A lack of the ability to say NO to requests, demands, or situations (to others as well as yourself, btw) will show up in your body.

When we constantly suppress our needs and feelings, our bodies become tightropes for everyone else to walk on.

On a deeper level, we fear that saying no will leave us labeled mean, selfish, or weak…and we will do anything to avoid the pain of guilt and shame.

If your instinct is to say yes, try this for one day:

  1. Say, “Let me get back to you soon,” and do not respond for a minimum of one hour.

  2. Ask yourself: If you say YES to them, what is the NO to you?

  3. Ask yourself: If you say NO to them, what is the YES to you?

  4. Make your decision. Share it.

If you have long-standing patterns of saying yes, this will shake up relationships or jobs as they dissipate or reorganize into healthier dynamics.

Let that happen.

There is nothing for you in situations that take everything and leave you with nothing.

Can I get a YES to that ;)
